What is EPDM Membrane?
EPDM stands for ethylene propylene diene monomer, which are the chemicals mixed together to create this synthetic rubber. EPDM Membrane is essentially a synthetic rubber used mainly for waterproofing, but it also has a variety of other uses due to its robust, durable and very flexible properties. EPDM membrane strips stand out in terms of durability and are not susceptible to atmospheric influences, sunlight, UV radiation, chemical pollution, water and extreme temperature fluctuations. The strips do not contain softeners which eventually leave or migrate to other substances. As a result, strength and elasticity remain virtually unchanged, without shrinking, melting, hardening or cracking, making it an ideal long-term solution and not just a quick fix. EPDM membrane can be applied using contact adhesive or paste adhesive which are also available from Affixit.
Where is EPDM Membrane Used?
LYN EPDM EXT is an elastomeric waterproofing strip based on the rubber polymer EPDM with a low water vapour transmission factor. It is used as a vapour control layer such as façade waterproofing and as a damp proof course. It is black and has a surface texture on both sides for maximum adhesion. LYN EPDM EXT provides a very long expected service life and is an environmentally friendly product. During its lifetime, every building is subject to the effects of structural movements and thermal fluctuations. Sustainable protection against wind and water is therefore a necessity. Current construction methods increasingly demand more from waterproofing materials. In addition to strength, elasticity, weather and chemical resistance, it is also demanded that these products are as durable as the building itself, without compromising on quality and performance. LYN EPDM EXT Membrane is a well-established system that meets all these requirements.

Sikamembran 220 FR provides a secure, durable multifunctional vapour barrier and waterproof seal. It is used in junctions between building elements in curtain wall facades and ventilated facades as well as window installations where it creates an airtight and fire-safe detailing. Sikamembran 220 FR is self-adhesive and supplied on a split liner (crack back) to assist in liner removal. Unlike other fire-rated airtight membranes, it is highly conformable and combines the user-friendly properties of the EPDM membrane along with the critical B-s1, d0 fire safety classification.
- Quick, Easy & Clean to Install
- Self Adhesive (no further adhesives required)
- Excellent Adhesion to a Wide Variety of Substrates
- B-s1, d0 (according to EN13501-1:2018 applied onto substrate Euro class A2-s1, d0 or better)
- Fire Safe
